Jupiter’s Virgo Transit and the Mutable Signs

Jupiter, the planet of optimism and opportunity, will transit Virgo from August 11th, 2015 to September 9th, 2016. Virgo is a Mutable sign, which means all the Mutables (Sagittarius, Gemini and Pisces) will be in line to receive Jupiter’s gifts. Jupiter works by expanding the existing potential of whatever he touches. However, since the Mutables are also experiencing Neptune in Pisces (which will be activating 7 to 11 degrees during this transit) and Saturn in Sagittarius (activating 0 to 16 degrees) Jupiter’s influence will be modified by their energies, presenting these signs with an odd grab bag of influences.
If you have relationship angles/planets (your 7th House cusp, Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars or a planet that rules/occupies your 7th House) in any of the Mutable signs, you’ll feel this transit most strongly in your love life. To a lesser extent, relationship planets that have progressed into a Mutable sign will also feel this, as will your progressed 7th House cusp in a Mutable sign.

Virgo

You’re all about details and perfection. Jupiter is about the big picture. It may seem as if Jupiter will have his style cramped in your sign, which (let’s face it) can be fussy at times. But his powers are active no matter where he is. You have a tendency to pick out the flaws in your partner/yourself, but Jupiter’s shot of perspective may be just what you need to take a leap of faith over your perception of those flaws. Jupiter can bring a new relationship that hits you with a delightful rush of possibility — so delightful that you temporarily forget to focus on what might go wrong. This transit can also give you a boost of confidence. This could be the year that you accept you’re all that. Who else can offer platinum standards of care, consideration and refinement to a lover? No one, that’s who. You have the market cornered on doing love right.
Transiting Neptune will be opposing Virgo, so you may receive a double shot of expansion: Jupiter’s possibilities amplifying Neptune’s dreams. Jupiter’s exact opposition to Neptune (around September 17th, 2015 at 7 degrees) could be a peak romantic opportunity, as you’re urged to let go and just accept what’s happening. Mind you, transiting Saturn will also be squaring Virgo, adding a note of caution. So there’s no worries about you getting too carried away. Saturn’s square to Jupiter from March to May 2016 (13 to 16 degrees) will be the testing ground for a relationship, where you’ll see how possibility stands up to reality.
Everyone chooses how they handle a particular transit, so some of you could decide to go slightly bananas with the nitpicking. Remember, Jupiter expands everything, so this energy could power up your improvement drive to fanatical levels. It’s good to have a mission, but watch that you don’t hammer your partner (or yourself) with an insanely detailed fix-it regime. Jupiter can expand certain “flaws” to massive proportions, but if you step back, you’ll see that the three pounds you gained, or your lover’s habit of loading the dishwasher incorrectly, are not deal-breakers.

Pisces

Jupiter will be opposing your sign, urging you to explore the fantastic romantic possibilities over there. You certainly don’t need any encouragement to loosen your boundaries, so Jupiter’s expansion will be like a booster shot of euphoria. Anything will seem possible. Romantic compassion, hope and magic will be magnified, especially with transiting Neptune in your sign. When Neptune and Jupiter oppose each other (around September 17th, 2015 at 7 degrees) get ready for a romantic bubble that lifts you higher and higher. There’s potential for a lover who feels like the manifestation of your dreams. And there’s also potential for your capacity to give to increase exponentially. If you’ve been finding that the square from transiting Saturn has been dragging you down, this Jupiter transit could be the anti-depressant you’re looking for. Jupiter won’t cancel out Saturn’s restrictions, but he’ll certainly give you opportunities for new love (or new life in an existing relationship). If your existing relationship is sucking you dry, this transit could lift your chin and point you in the direction of freedom. But this means you’ll have to do the rest of the work by picking yourself up and walking towards the exit.
Despite Jupiter’s positive potential, it must be said that this transit can also enhance your escapist/addictive qualities (especially during the Jupiter/Neptune opposition). If you’ve been waiting to lose yourself in someone, that could happen. But that someone may not be the best person for you. Jupiter promises, but you need to look carefully at those promises. Is this dream lover the real deal? An opposition from Jupiter can trigger projection, and you may end up projecting all your fantasies onto someone. If you treat love as a drug, Jupiter could be your next hit. But know that Saturn may force you to go cold turkey, especially when he squares Jupiter from March to May 2016, from 13 to 16 degrees.

Gemini

Jupiter will be squaring your sign, prodding you with restless insistence. The tension of the square will urge you to consider new choices: a new partner perhaps, or a new way of being in your existing relationship. You will definitely not be satisfied with the status quo, and anyone who’s not on board with your whirlwind of new ideas will be yesterday’s news. You’ll be yearning for a companion to talk to, about everything. Combined with transiting Neptune’s square to your sign, and transiting Saturn’s opposition, you may find yourself caught in a very odd situation. Saturn will be urging you to focus, focus, focus (on your relationship commitments, or perhaps the limits of how far you can take a relationship). You’ll feel this especially around March to May  2016 (13 to 16 degrees), when Saturn squares Jupiter. But Neptune will be blurring your focus, by dissolving old ideas about love, companionship and commitment. And Jupiter will be giving you a shake, urging you to make a choice or move on. The Jupiter/Neptune opposition (around September 17th, 2015) will square your sign, making any planets/angles around 7 degrees Gemini the focal point of a romantic fantasy, illusion or dream come true. It won’t be boring, but it may feel kind of crazy.
If you get carried away with Jupiter’s input, you could find yourself spinning manically through endless choices. This partner, or that partner? Is this the type of relationship you want, or have you outgrown it? If you’ve been in a relationship for a while, your lover may suddenly wonder who you really are. If you get to the point where you’re questioning everything, step back and remind yourself that Jupiter’s ultimate goal is to present you with an opportunity. It may not be the answer to your prayers, but it will be a window that allows you to grow. In the context of your love life, this (ideally) will involve moving beyond an unhealthy approach to love. It may involve a new partner, or it may involve working with your existing partner to refocus your lives together. But you will be given an opportunity to choose differently.

Sagittarius

Do you really need another excuse to explore? With transiting Saturn moving through your sign, you just might. If you’ve been experiencing Saturn’s crunch, your love life may have felt quite heavy (or barren); no one likes having their wings clipped. Along comes Jupiter, squaring your sign and giving you your mojo back. Jupiter can inject you with hope in the guise of a new love, or a new perspective on an existing relationship. Jupiter will remind you that nothing gets you down for long, and if a relationship tanks, there’s always someone new on the horizon. The Jupiter/Neptune opposition (around September 17th, 2015) will square anything in your sign around 7 degrees. Your doors could be blown off by its unreal idealism. Think romantic vision quest, or getting in touch with a higher purpose that elevates you above all the tiresome nonsense in your love life. This could be your escape route from an oppressive situation. Then again, if you’re on board with Saturn’s increased responsibilities, Jupiter could offer you a chance to commit to a happy, long-term union. Jupiter brings the goodies, and Saturn shows you what to do with them.
Mind you, Neptune’s dreams mixing with Jupiter’s exploration could see you running gleefully towards a romantic mirage. Jupiter could also fill you with a false sense of optimism that your current approach to love is just fine, even if it’s not working. The trouble is, you’re guaranteed to run into Saturn’s wall of reality, especially when he squares Jupiter around March to May 2016 (13 to 16 degrees). But, you could remind yourself that Saturn calls the shots by attending to your personal responsibilities, while using Jupiter’s potential to pull yourself out of your rut (even you can get stuck in a rut). If you’re single and lonely, this is your chance to get back out there. If you’re in an unhappy relationship, this could be your nudge to improve it, or end it. If you’ve been lazily accepting that your romantic situation is the way it is “because I’m a Sag,” this transit could be the catalyst that boots you out of your complacency. A square is a tense aspect, so even a square from Jupiter will cause some friction. That friction may be what you need to get a grip.
